Default 98 Honda Civic DX sound system

Hey what's up I own a '98 Honda Civic Hatchback DX.

bought it used and the speakers are are half dead and dying more and more everyday. I am looking to buy a sound system but I don't know much about cars/audio.

I have a 500 dollar max cash limit[i'm 16] anyone have any tips where to start/what I should do?

I don't need to get the best sound system, just something decent..

Thank you for your time

You can pick up a pretty good Alpine HU for under $200... http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/ca...its-head-units
http://www.crutchfield.com/app/produ...%26+Components
You can easily find 2 sets of Infinity speakers, [that fit your car] and still have a few $ left over... http://www.crutchfield.com/app/produ...ty+car+speaker

Keep in mind the most important part of an audio system is the source, [HU] so pay atttention to the HU you pick.ake sure it has the features you want now and maybe for upgrading later, [like sub output and front and rear preamp outputs or iPod control] you do not want to have to change the HU just because you want to upgrade the system.94

BTW, even thought I do not recommend it, you can find cheaper pricing on-line from unauthorized 3rd party sellers, IMO it is not worth taking the risk as you will not get manufactures warranty when buying from unauthorized dealers.

So I shouldn't look at subs or amps just worry about getting a HU and 2-4 speakers?

I would do a simple deck and speakers for now, untill you can get the money for a good set of amps and sub.

I love alpine decks, i have always hated kenwoods. Infinity speakers are great as well and arent to costly.

I can safely say i wouldnt use any of the things edzy posted except maybe the wireing.

this is what i would do
$210
http://www.crutchfield.com/s_500CDA1...&tp=5684&avf=N

front speakers $80
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1086032...=3&tp=95&avf=N

I dont know what size the rear speakers are? but i figure the the same maybe a bit more,

that puts at $370 add in a alpine 4 channel at 200 and 51 for wires as edzy posted your at 609, which is to much....

i say stick with just deck and speakers, then when you can afford throw some subs in, maybe a 4 channle.
