Watch out for your local Acura Dealership!!!!!!!
There is an acura dealership in my area that has been ripping people off. I have talked to 4 people plus my slef that have bought cars from this dealership and within 1 or 2 weeks from buying there GSR's and Type R's they were stolen (in my case attempted to be stolen). One of the service mechanics from this dealership i was told is actually in jail now. BUT I THINK its more then just one guy, i think its the entire dealership. I blew my motor in the spring and took it to them to be replaced and when i got my new motor all the cerial numbers and engine code had been removed!!! they gave me a blank block. I then talked to a guy that bought a type R from them a few months ago and they told him they did a rebuild at 80 000km so it has a new engine. I took a look at his block at it was labeled " B18C" i took a look at his tranny and it was BLANK.....no LSD i cant believe it. It seems to me that someone from the dealership is stealing cars they sell and useing stolen blocks and transmissions to replace the ones that need to be warranteed.

this is a very very serious offense if this is actually true...major lawsuit if anything can be proven
, especially in your case with you and the other guy's motor. i'd have a certified acura technician from another dealership look at it and see if your sh*t is legit...
hope it is

I think your a little paraniod. The other poster is right with replaced parts. There will be no VIN numbers on the replaced products. As for the trans, it should still have an LSD stamp on it. If there is none, pull one of the axles and see if you can see through it. If you dont have a LSD, then you can't contact your local police. But before you start making a storm, look into the facts first.
That's bull! My girlfriend had her trans from her 99 SI warrantied for a defect at our local honda dealership. The new trans came w/ new papers and numbers on it. If the numbers are missing they can not be inventoried. Don't get ripped. You may have a fresh stolen, and better yet a gsr in place of a type R...
damn that **** is not cool...i would hope that acura wouldnt do something like that

i think thats BS.........I bought my R from acura 2000 and they were great.........i even got to know a few people at that dealership..............they are one of the top selling honda dealerships in cananda.........the place is a very plush dealership as well........i don't buy it
Hit up the Honda headquarters and ask them about rebuilt and replaced parts. That's the easiest way to find out the truth.
Still, every rebuilt or replaced part should have a serial number or even a "rebuilt" number. What if the cops feel like running through the engine VIN numbers and find out you have no VIN? Uh oh, that situation won't be a pretty one.

I got my short block replaced at 10k due to a spun bearing and the new block has b18c5 on it, but it does not have a vin plate. There is also some green paint (i think its green) over the b18c5 section.
