Default H23A1 engine rebuild question

I see engine rebuild kits for $300 for H23A1 motors.

I have a prelude with a bad piston ring. Would I need anything else to rebuild the motor? It comes with pistons, rings, gaskets, etc...

Can I just take it apart and put it back together using the rebuild kit myself for $300?

I've only ever built a motor once and it was a B18A1 block with a B16 head, both fully built with high performance parts and assembled by a machine shop. All I did was put the head on the block and drop it in the car, so I'm slightly unfamiliar with this territory.

I guess what I'm asking is, is the rebuild kit alone enough to rebuild the motor? Can I do it without having the cylinders serviced by a machine shop?

---

trying to figure out whether to sell the car for $800, or if I can rebuild the motor for $300, sell it for $1500-2000.
Or if I keep it I'd just drop a running H22A4 motor in. But the resale wouldn't pay for the cost of that motor.

It's all pretty simple. Just make sure you buy the Helms manual and take your time. The only thing that will keep you from doing it all yourself is that the machine shop will need to press your new pistons onto the rods
