So my rad fan is not turning on. I broke out a multimeter and tested several place for voltage. At the battery is 14volts, at the fan relay is 14 volts, at fan switch is 14 volts and at the fan connecter there is 0 volts. the wires from the fuse box to the fan are all in tack. Anyone have any idea whats up? I know you need 12 volts for the fan to operate. I'm just wandering why it has 0 volts at the fan.

 

check fuses, check your ground. i had mine go out on my (ground cable) and for the life of me couldnt figure out why the fan wasnt working... also use a test light. it will show if your wires are actually carrying current rather than just showing voltage.

 

fuses are all good. My ground cable was replaced a few months ago so it's shiny and new. I don't have a test light. Can you think of anything else bro?

 

where the cable from your wire harness hooks up to the radiator fan is that at 14 volts? if not i would follow that wire all the way back untill you find a voltage.

 

and a test light is something you should get.. theyre like under 10 bucks..

 

Unplug the 2P connector for the fan switch on the thermostat housing. Install a jumper wire to short the two terminals in the plug and then turn the key to ON(II). Does the fan now run continuously?

With the jumper wire installed and the key in ON(II), do you now measure battery voltage at the fan connector? If so, the fan is probably bad.

 

ron I am sorry. I spoke too soon. I re read your post and googled jumper wire. I can across a diagram and saw that you wanted a jumper wire just on the thermo plug. I was trying to run a wire from thermo plug directly to fan. I'm an idiot. I did the jumper wire how you said and the fan is spinning. I guess this means the fan switch is bad.

 

Before you replace the switch, bleed the cooling system. Air trapped in the system could also prevent the switch from activating. If bleeding does not help, replace the switch.
