Ok, so i bought my civic about 4 mothns ago, it's gas guage doesnt like to work half the time. It works when the car is cold, like in the morning, but once i drive around the block it automatically says full tank when it isnt. and if its in the sun it doesnt even do that, it just says full all the time. was told its an easy fix but i havent been able to find anything about it. I am currently running off of mileage count, but since summer is here i would like to get it fixed so i can go on a road trip with no worries.

What year?

Most likely, there is an intermittent short in the wire running between the cluster and fuel sending unit in the gas tank or the sending unit is bad.

 

It's a '97

 

I vote sending unit is bad thats usually what happens with crazy gauges esp if youve never messed with the wireing and its as new as a 97
