My fiance's brother has an 1989 Honda Prelude Si. When people say "Si" it makes me think manual transmission. Well we were talking about the car the other day and come to find out it is an automatic, but still an Si. I didn't think this was possible. I was told Honda made automatic Si in the late '80's. Is this true? How rare is this car? Can someone shed some light on this subject for me?? Thank You

The 3rd gen Honda Prelude 88-89 Si, 90-91 Si models are becoming a very rare sportcompact.
Here are the specs: http://mustardcat.brinkster.net/p3g/...tion/Specs.htm
This generation of Prelude was neglected in then sportcompact scene and aftermarket support.
I have since July 2006 started supporting this generation by producing and selling:
AZ Race - H22/23 engine swap mounts
AZ Race - B20a5/B21a1 Billet stock replacement mounts
AZ Race - Traction Bar and skid bar
KsportUSA - Kontrol Pro, Version RR coilover kits
1FunRyd Performance - Powersteering Reroute lines
With these new parts now in current production, anyone can pick these cars up and revive them with the more powerful H22 engine.
And upgrade the suspension with the Ksport coiover kit that I had Ksport produce.
If your looking to restore or keep up your 3rd gen Prelude, then go to: www.p r e l u d e p o w e r.com(minus the spaces) and you will find a huge online following of 3rd gen enthusiasts from the extreme tuner to the daily drive maintanence crowd.
Should you decide you want to upgrade performance on your 3rd gen, then email me at: onefunrydperformance@q.com
I can get you what you need to make it happen, or point you in the right direction if I cant.

^ Since that wasn't very clear:
Yes, the Si came in stick and sissy-stick form. I'd guess about a 50/50 ratio. I would never own one but there are plenty out there.

The aftermarket is going up for the 3rd gens now. 1funryd just got Cometic to produce a MLS headgasket for the Bastard B20a (non related b series). We had Function&Form produce some coilovers for it. ESP with all the suspension goodies and mounts. So theres an aftermarket growing rapidly for the 3rd gen now. its not that rare of a car its just rare to see one raced out because of how hard it is sometimes to come up with parts for it. Like getting a hold of some DC headers for it. Good luck. Ha! look below at a good example of a well balanced all around 3rd gen lude
Honda first used the term in the US in 1985 with the Accord SE-i, CRX Si and Civic Si. Common demoninator, theyre all fuel injected. So "i" means, injected. 1985 was the first year for fuel injection. Before 1985, it was Accord SE and Civic S. Not sure when the first FI Prelude hit the streets, FI preludes adopted the Si badging. The carbureted models did not.

Its a awesome car. Great suspension and a strong block. Cons are theres not many aftermarket parts. But you can find them at the junkyard all day long. I wish I rain nos on this block before spending alot on internals and boost. Now it too exspenive to blow up. Really hard to work on too. Find a 4ws model..Four wheel steering. Those are really rare. Good luck
