Default Starter Kill relay dead

Hey guys, I stealth installed my Viper 5002 Alarm early this past January.

Last week I went to leave work, dis-armed alarm, put key in Ignition and it did nothing. All the Dash lights came on and the Fuel pump primed but no power went to the Starter Solenoid. I almost instantly thought it was the Starter Kill relay that is located inside the Alarm Brain. I went back inside the shop and got a piece of wire and jumped from the battery straight to the Solenoid and drove home.

It was HOT in the car when I got in it to leave work, 165 Degrees to be exact, I have a Thermometer in the air vent for A/C purposes. I thought the heat was just causing the relay to act up. I drove it home and shut it off in the garage and tried to restart it and it started right back up. I really didn't think anymore of it. It has been fine, starting no problem, until today.

Went to leave work and it did it again so I just jumped from battery to solenoid again and drove home. Once home it would not restart. I accessed my alarm brain and checked the wires with my voltmeter. I was getting 12V to the Relay but not back on the other side.

I have just bypassed the relay for now. I still have an Ignition kill but I like the starter kill because it can slow a thief down just a bit more.

Is there anyway I can replace the relay that's inside the brain? Any info or insight would be great.

fcm, Thanks for the response. Probably the most ideal and easiest solution. I'll go pick me up a SPDT Relay and get to work on it maybe today.

I don't kow that alarm but if it doesn't have a seperate starter kill wire just solder a wire from the internal relay and run it outside the alarm. Then use that wire to trigger your external relay.

The relay inside the alarm can be replaced. But my educated guess would be it would be difficult to source. Installing a external relay would be your safest bet.
