I have an '06 Civic coupe in Galaxy Silver. I noticed a few months ago that my clear coat was cloudy in a few spots. I have kept an eye on it and it is getting worse; pretty much the whole roof clear coat is affected now.

I am going to take it in to Honda and get it looked at but I want some info on the quality of the paint finish in these models and any expectations of the support from Honda. I want to know if there are any official statements regarding the finish or if there is anyone who has been able to get this issue resolved through Honda.

The car is garaged about half the time (I am a firefighter and work in the desert. At work I have no way to keep the car under cover). Most of the miles are highway miles in SoCal. I wax the car about every four to six months. The only issues with the clear coat I have noticed are on the roof and on the lip spoiler.

Any help/advice would be welcome.

 

Hate to say it, but this happens with almost ALL silver hondas. I think its just the way the heat is reflected off of it. Honda isn't known for quality paint either, Thats why some dealerships carry a paint warranty, a lot of Honda Oddeseys paint just flakes off. Not real sure what to tell you, other than take it to a body shop, have them sand it down and clear/paint over it. Sorry. As for a temporary solution, if its just faded and not peeling yet, maybe a cut and buff?
