My ITR now has 17k miles and the trans is out for the third time. first time was at 6k for ACT clutch and JDM fd, Second time in Nov of last year for a warranty rebuild at the dealer 1-4 gears, synchros.......(pays to have friends) and recently 3rd gear was grinding again. So I pulled it and dropped it off at the dealer for "warranty" rebuild again
Including "warranty" both very stiff outer CV joints.
To the question: I have the ACT XTSS clutch in the car. I have been told the added pressure that ACT uses can cause wear on the crankshaft thrust bearings because of the of the extra pressure placed on the crankshaft when the clutch is engaged. (any thoughts). Are there any direct links between clutch and trans wear.
I am well aware that I drive my car extremely hard as anyone that has seen me can attest to but is the ACT cluch contributing to the wear?????

Matt, sorry to hear about the tranny woes.
However ... I'd think the pressure plate forces would be centralized in the flywheel/disc/pp area and not necessarily be the problem.
More than likely it's that added power and shifting "style".
I just bought a quaife for my boost build up, and hopefully the tranny will hold up if I take it easy on the drop-throttle shifts.
Good thing you've got "friends" in the right places. Ed
