Default dash lights not coming on

I'm having a problem with my dash lights no coming on. Fuses are good bulbs are good. The speedo needles work, turn signals, no seatbelt, hazards everything works just no lights. My friend said it could be because the radio harness was cut and the illumination wire is not hooked up. Could this be the cause? Any input is helpful input.

Is the plug that controls the lights plugged in? Yes it could be the wire that is cut, only because there may be something else cut too though. Those wires are connected in the harness, but you should still have light in the cluster with the use end being cut at the head unit. If that button is not plugged in/ or is broken, your dash lights will not work, but the rest will.
