Default new clutch problem

ok so i bought a exedy racing clutch for my b16a swap im doing, i ordered it for a 92-93 gsr, now my question is im installing it and the pressure plate doesnt sit up against the flywheel, there is a 1/4 inch gap... so my question is should i just tightin it down and see if that will make it sit flat or tap it with a rubber malat? i dont want to ruin the clutch and i dont want to damage when i go to use it..any advice?
