How much do you want to gain, how much do you have to spend?

You already have a post with the same question. Please pick 1 and try and keep the boards un-cluttered.

Look Bro. with a D16Y8, you either bottle feed it or turbo. Do a freaking swap if those aren't good enough for you. THERE ARE NO GOOD BOLT ONS FOR Y8's, IT'S NOT THAT TYPE OF ENGINE.

thats it, go on a diet, and give your car a diet and strip out excess weight..

Since you dont want to do the logical thing and do it the right way, youll need to strip your car to make it lighter. Lighter is faster. But dont think your going to break the sound barrier, you might pick up .2 of a second.

Nitrous is safe as long as YOU dont install it. Spend 600 bucks and do a 65 shot max and then you have your cheap HP solution..

remember that SOHC's take alot of $$$ to have them make power. Your talking about a 1.6 liter engine here.

1st 65 shot
2nd turbo
3rd swap to better engine for your goals.

theres nothing else you can do to your engine besides breaking it open and throwing in high compression pistons, and do the bottom end.

Then you can get a cam and your cam gears and make some decent numbers (still wont touch a GSR or anything of that sort)

^ HAHA! Paying the same price for a turbocharger that gives you half the power? I don't understand that.

supercharger's are good for city driving where reving the engine to a max of 3-4k rpm which is where a supercharger is most useful while highway and racing would use turbo for the power thats at the top end.

Just make sure that you have someone to consult with about using the stuff. A lot of people use it wrong and make Hondas look bad. Don't add to the statistics!

I get it but... I wouldn't do it myself. I find it hard to justify as well (unless the goal is VERY instant power for autox or something).

Instantaneous power does not justify paying the same price for a turbo that only takes 1000 or 2 rpm to spool. If you want both, superturbocharge then.

He better not add us to the same statistics that include gay *** Cobalt SS's. I'll smack a Hoe.

there is many ways depending what you are planing on going either turbo or all motor. Once you made up your mind you need to set a budget and a goal either choice you make it is all about displacement. So if you got the cash sleve's are the key for a big bore i know vitara has both low and high compresion pistons for single cams. Also invest in a good port polish a good cam and valve train i can go on and on but it is all on your budget. If it was me i would invest in a good cam for now nice way to get hp.

Ok, please dont post wrong info. You have it backwards. Supercharger makes more power at higher RPM and is not useful to city driving. $2500 for a supercharger that will make 6lbs or 2500 for a turbo kit that makes whatever u want.. no brainer there!

^^ I dont know what youve been reading. But the simple bolt ons dont change the AFR to need tuning. The basemap is just fine for bolt ons. Tuning is ONLY when the AFRs change.

Both of you need to do some research before posting.

^. No, no, no. YOU GO BETTER PLUGS FOR BOOSTING. Plugs won't do crap unless boosted. You waste money going anymore than OEM, don't fool yourself.
