1991 Honda CRX DX engine swap
Hi, This is my first post so please bear with me.
I own a 1991 Honda CRX DX that I bought with some modifications already done to it. It currently has a D15B2 engine. As of next weekend I will be swaping from DPFI to MPFI and after that I want to do an engine swap but I want to be able to keep everything else as close to the way it is now as possible. I was just wondering what engines anyone would recommend that I swap for. I am assuming that in order to keep the same intake manifold and all that stuff I would need to stick with a D Series engine but I am not sure. I am trying to maximize my power for as little money as possible for financial reasons. Also, after I went about swapping the engine would it be best to get the engine ready for a turbo or would I need to do anything else first. Right now it has a Full 3" exhaust with cat and its got D.C. headers. It also has an SI transmission and is lowered on coilovers. Thank you very much in advance for any advice. I really appreciate it.

I would do a B18a1 swap from a DA....its like the easiest and most simple swap to do besides a d-series into a CRX..Best bang for the buck. The best part is that you could still use your ECU that you are going to use for your MPFI swap..either a PR4 or PM6.
But I would have to put in a new intake manifold and new headers wouldn't I if i change to a B18? I thought they were only compatible through the series?
yes u wuld need a new intake manifold and a header you would also need a b series tranny and 2 halfshafts and an intermediate shaft from a 90-93 integra and new shift linkage that will need to be cut to fit right if you have not had much experience with hondas i would recomending sticking with d series get a dohc zc or somthing vtec like a d16y8 or z6 and have sumone wire in your vtec
yeah that seems like the better option for me for now... I was thinking vtec was a good idea and so I guess ill probably look into the d16y8 or z6... and I guess I will just research what parts I already have that are compatible with it. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

if you decide to stick with the d though then definitely get a z6 engine if you can. the y-series engines are notorious for spinning rod bearings due to them only having 1 oiling port per rod journal vs the z6's 2.
