Default New to the CG world and need some info.

Hello, just bought an automatic 01 Accord LX 2 weeks ago. Clean title with almost 90K miles. Previous car I have own was an 05 Civic EX SE.

Know a little info about the car, but needs to know more. So I thought I'd post it up here.

1. So the F23A1 and the H22/23 are the ones that are interchangeable. Since my 1st gear is slipping a bit, can I just swap in a H22/23 transmission without changing the TCU, axles, or mounts?

2. I might want to do an H22A4 accord swap later down the road. Not anytime soon because all my money goes towards school and bills. I was wondering is it just plug and play? Are the Accord mounts able to bolt up to the H22 block and transmission?

3. Has anyone ever completed a G23 swap for an automatic ?

4. Sorry I've estimated an auto-manual swap to be around high 3grand to low 4 grand. Since i'm here in California also, do I have to use everything off from an 01 Honda Prelude to have it be bar'd legal?

Thanks for the time to read and answer. If these car were as simple and parts were cheaper like the EM2, it would be easier to accomplish.

the gear is slipping? not the clutch?

all f motors are interchangable with H/F transmissions (with the exception to the f22c of course!).

auto to manual for 4k?! ARE YOU NUTS?! I have spent around 500 at the MOST.

buy a manual parts car and part it out afterwards.

It's an automatic. No such thing as clutch.

500 at most? Naw, can't be. Transmission + clutch and flywheel is more than 500 already.

Saw that. He didn't list some prices though. And If I do decide to pick up a manual. You know I already want one off a H22A.

back to your original post, if you need a replacement auto trans anyway, now would be a great time to do an auto-manual swap (and since you plan to in the future anyway) doing a G23 or any considerable performance upgrade with a auto is not highly advisable. if it's slipping now under normal loads, what's it going to do when you increase the load?

i may not be the most knowledgeable on the topic of legality of swaps in CA... but i think everything must be of the same year or newer and retain all emissions functionality.

This. Why settle for the auto? When the manual is SOOOO much better!

And yes according to CA law, powertrains must be from the same year or newer.

Yes, as previously stated by Balwin, F transmissions are interchangeable. A few things may need some tweaking, but you can find the specifics by searching the forum or google.

Yeah, it's the trans. I don't plan on driving it far or with heavy load, I have another car to do that with. This is just my DD, until I save some extra cash to fund for my auto to manual.

Yes, terriable thing about Cali is our ref laws. It's gonna be hard to find a 01 Prelude over here in northern cali. If not, I'll prob just decide to get another trans off of a 01 accord, but will have a new plan in mind and that's to 5 speed and just turbo the car.

Wasn't my fault all of a sudden my mom (can't drive stick) wanted my civic instead of the accord. She says the car is too big for her and eats too much gas compared to that little D17A2.

If I was the one who bought the car, I would have seeked out for a 5 speed and wouldn't have to deal with none of this hah.
