OT:unidentified suv...
well i've been down in socal for about 2 weeks now and on friday night coming back from ontario on the 15 i saw these bright HID's behind me. when it passed me going about 100mph i had no idea what it was. usually when i see i car i can tell what it is but this one had a blue license plate with no state tag. and was going average of 100. the part where the manufacturer's badge should be had black tape or something over it too. it was the craziest thing i seen. it looks like a cross between a lexus sc430 and an acura mds. anybody know what this is?
holy crap that was it. weird...is that car even out yet?

The top of the line BMW X5 is supposed to be pretty fast on a track too. Fast enough to compete will cars.. never saw one on the track though. top speed close to 150.. which is far too fast for a SUV imo

the Porsche Cayanne is acutally pretty crappy IMO. Yeah sure it has a twin turbo version and is fast, however it only does 0-60 in 5.7sec. Our NA 4.6is X5 does an under rated 6.1sec 0-60.
We were on the wait list for the Cayanne, however after seeing how it looks we asked to put the money on something else. The Cayanne is but ugly. Looks like a Audi wagon on steriods with a turbo porsche front (IE: lifted wagon).
Our 4.6is X5 is an extreamly well setup SUV. The handeling is amazing (trust me), the brakes are killer (14" rotors!, nuff said), 315's in the rear and 275's up front on factory 20" wheels (due to the large brakes), plus with great V8 power this baby kills slightly mod'd type R's! hahahaha The 4.6is is the fastest in the world at the moment till the Cayanne comes out. I've raced my friends ML55 and the X5 jumps ahead right off the line. But yeah the 4.6is will do a 15.1 on standard mode, will do a 14.8 in sport mode or in manual steptronic mode. Still though its a SUV/truck not a race car. The main quality thats the best is that it has the power to tow my R around to track events. I dunno though, I would have to see the Cayanne in person to see if I like it. The power isn't bad especally since I would probally chip it and over boost it which should drop the 0-60 in the 5.3-5.5sec range. Well see, for the time I'll settle hands down with the 4.6is.

yeah its probrably the new porsche SUV, car and driver does all of its testing in my area, so I've seen alot of cars before they came out. I've seen the Chyane a couple times all taped up and everything. True you live on the other side of the country, but its possible thats what you're seeing.
What an ugly, pointless pile of crap. Porsche's product planners must have been smoking some particularly potent crack to have even entertained the notion of building an SUV. The fact that they're actually building the Cayanne is depressing. Until now I was living with the hope that this abortion on wheels was nothing more than a grand practical joke.
The world is going to Hell in a handbasket.
