Default Peak Power of a d16a6

I had posted something about this but it got moved to drag racing board or some **** like that. anyway, I read somewhere that shifting passed 6000 or so rpms is pointless in my car. anybody hear anything like that? one tenth of a second faster and ill have a 13 year old car with less than 100hp at the wheels and 100k+ miles on it in the 15s. Any advise would help actually.

Actually, there is.

If you shift to the next gear, you lose a ton of effective torque at the wheels. You only want to shift EARLY (before redline) if torque drops off so far that you have less effective torque at the wheels than you would in the NEXT gear at target rpm for the current vehicle speed. Given the characteristics of our I4 engines, peak torque is always made pretty high and remains decent all the way to redline... so shift at redline.

Yes you can feel torque drop off, but it will drop off even more if you shift.

Dustin

Your DX pulls that high? Even my Si would fall off around 6400. God I loved my Y8...pulled all the way to 7200 rpm. 15.2's!
