Default 6th gen accord, v6, I4 chassis differences, v6 swap?

On the 6th gen, 98-02 accords, does the v6 variant 'swap over' to the I4?

I know that redneck dave had the j32 put into his accord coupe, but I couldn't seem to find if it was originally a v6 or an I4 model. I've also read that the 5th gen had a chassis difference between the I4 and the V6. Meaning that you couldn't bolt up an I4 into the v6 chassis and vice versa. But I cannot seem to find a clear answer as to whether or not the j-series would bolt into an I4 accord

from comparing the mounts side by side in the FSM and V6 supplement, it looks like the mount points on the chassis are oriented differently. for instance the 4cyl trans mount on the frame rail, the bolts sit horizontally; for the V6 the "front" passenger side engine mount, the bolts run vertically. it also appears that the sub frame mount points are different, although that part could be swapped over with the rest of the drive train i suppose.

what i've heard is that its easier to sell the car with the 4-cyl and by a factory equipped V6. it seems that's not just a rumor...

along the same lines though, i've always wondered what it would take to get the 7th gen V6 into an Element since both the Element and 7th gen accords come with the K24...

The v6 in 6th gen I4 has been done. The bays are physically the same, but the layout of all of the accessories like AC PS and wiring are all opposite on he two different platforms. Are you wanting to attempt his swap or is this just academic?

Both really, but it wouldn't be for a while. I feel like if I have some sort of car project that I got brewing on the back burner that it will make me more enthusiastic in these last few semesters.

I'm just speculating right now and gathering information. But ideally in the future, I'd pick up a wrecked vehicle with a j-series and just steal all the parts from it.

that third one seemed to have the answer in it. CL mounts and some minor modification.

But wouldn't the end result of all this just be something like a v6 altima?

A boosted h22 setup might be a better idea afterall

If you're going to boost it why bother swapping to H22? Maybe the H22 head..,

why would it be like a V6 Altima instead of a V6 Accord? what's the big picture?

Honestly, while the H22 head is superior, it is kind of a waste of time when you're just cramming air through it. Boring.

Don't be a puss, do the J35 swap. 6th gen Accord curb weight is under 3k, the v6 altimas are like 3350 or something. V6 power just feels nice also, I don't know about you, but I'm kind of tired of flogging the crap out of my motor just to drive around town.

i drive the snot out of mine every day... even with 235,000mi. and it loves it!

but i see your point. safely merging with traffic on the interstate w/o breaking 3,000 rpm is a nice feeling

I'm just talking about peak power here. And with this car having 186k on it, I'd rather just ditch the f23 + shitty trans. So I'd just go with a h22 swap (they're like 1500 nowadays!) The reason I said v6 altima was because they already have the strong 3.5 v6s in them, and available with 6speeds (i think so at least)

If I did it, I'd wanna do a j35 and not a j32 though. Or maybe even a j37. fuсk it.

I have a 2002 honda accord I4 5 speed and am also very interested in doing a J35A4 swap using a 2003 up Accord 6 speed manual. i know they dont have the LSD but they are cheaper and easier to find the the 2003 type s. for those looking the J35A4 is cheaper then a H22 and has a boat load of spine bending torque!! anyone with info or who could point this newbie in the right direction?? thanks in advance.
