I'm asking someone about theirs and they say their's doesn't and only the 4 doors had it.

 

i have seen it on a hatch but i think its something like only autos had them.

 

I have a red 1990 Si hatch, no power steering.

 

Just picked one up, and it has no PS

Yeah his is a five speed, sounds like the auto's had it.
Dang I've been racing with ps for awhile and I drove a CRX that didn't have it, felt like a heavy go kart. How feasible is it to put ps in?

90-91 si auto hatch came optional I think. I've seen some at the junkyard on the stock engine there are mounting bolts on the cam side

This is true.
Just like how the states have STD with 4 speed, while our CX has 5 speed.
However, power steering ONLY came on Sedans from factory.
It is very possible to put it in a hatchback... probably fairly easy as well.
It's one of my upcoming projects.

 

Here's the facts:

All 88-91 civic with automatic transmission have power steering from factory
and in Canada all 88-91 civic with manual transmission have non-power steering except for the 91 special edition

note that the 91 crx si se dont have power steering too

False, my automatic 91 Civic hatchback didn't have power steering.

I'd gladly add ps to my ef for this reason alone. Well worth the extra weight IMO.

 

x2 Canadian Se Came with Ps and some 2 dr auto si's to the best of my knowledge.Only place I miss Ps is in the parking lots

 

Yeah some kid I went to high school with had an 89 and he always bragged about how he removed the ps cuz he didn't like it... Was like yeah why would you want a more responsive wheel?
