That little light in the trunk...mine wont work....how can i fix it???
I have a '98 GS 2-door. and that little light on the left side of the trunk. it doesn't work, i've tried changing the bulbs but that didn't do anything. how can i fix it. i looked at the fuse panel but didn't see anything that said anything about the trunk light. whats wrong w/it? thanks.
ok ok we got the same problem...basically i found out that the latch at the back controlls the light.....if u flip the latchall the way and let go hard!! it will trigger the light to go on....try it
Ya, mine will come on if I slam the little latch back and forth for a bit. Anyone know how to fix this?

Got the same prob, but doesnt really bother me, still love my teg, later
if i were to ask you to open your back trunk, how would you do it? YES THAT LATCH. that latch has a mechanism inside that also triggers the light. if you mess with that it should turn the lights on. HTH

I had the same problem. Checked the bulb and fuse which were ok. I pulled the housing and the thing was unplugged! I doubt that this is your problem but it is worth a try. Otherwise, it is a bad ground at the switch.

Weird, I was just trying to figure out why my light wasn't working the other day. My friend and I also discovered that if you swing the latch back and forth while the trunk is open the light will come on... I wonder if there's some sort of wire or trigger that's loose that's not making it come on every time the trunk is open.
i'm just gonna unplug it from where its plugged in at, then run new power wires to it from somethin else in the trunk. that way the only way it can be switched on and off is by the actual switch on the light.
That light has worked about 50% of the time for me, in both of my integras. I need to consult a voodo practicioner to fix it.
Or I can listen to the advice about the latch, good one!

Just wanted to chime in and say that I have had the same problem on my 98 GSR hatchback.
The light would work intermittently the first year or two I had the car, but since has not worked at all. I also tried pulling the housing apart to find the problem, but couldn't find anything.
I bought a stupid tap light to mount in my trunk, but stuff would hit it and make it turn on, leaving it with dead batteries, so I took it out.
Been living in the dark since.

94-97 Tegs don't have a latch in back, only a key hole, and the lever by the driver seat. My light doesn't work, either. It sucks when I'm trying to get stuff out of my car at night.

Mine comes equipped with a switch on the light. Make sure that is turned on. Also, my light assembly pops out from the interior paneling, so I just stick a fingernail back and pull. Don't know if that's the way it's supposed to, but to get to it, just pop out the little screw gizmo things on the rear-most interior panel, then just pull out the left hand side interior trim and bungee it back. No need to remove it all the way up to the door.
I used to flip that latch back and forth and few time then the light would come on. Now that doesn't work and I'm left with no light. Anybody know where the actual switch is located? is it integrated into the locking the latch?

Has anyone found a cure for this problem? Mine works only 25% of the time and that little latch trick doesn't work me. Should I take it to the dealer?

When my car gets out of the body shop, I will be probing around w/ a multi-tester to try and find the light problem, since the rear half of my car is all stripped out anyway at the moment (so the shop could get to the back of some dents easier, w/o messing up my car... I take apart the interior myself).

Ahh, that must be teh shittiest light fixture ever built. It was the same on my 98 as it is on my 99. Every once in a while I can flip the switch up and down and it will flash on. Never worked right for me. What a POS.
O yea, today i was trying to remove the rear plastic **** and a broke one of the damn things that holds it down. That really pissed me off. It was one of those round things basically right in the middle, over the latch, on the top. They are round w/ a smaller circle inside of them. I swear you cannot get those out without breaking them. Anyone have extra's layin around the house??

I broke almost all of mine, and the last time I ordered stuff from Carland Acura I also ordered 7 new clips like those. Now I always take extra care when taking them out, and so far I haven't broken any of them.
