Pics would help.

But, it sounds like you won't need those pieces of plastic. As long as your short ram intake fits good with the clamps and you attach all vacuum hoses necessary to it, you're good.

P.S: people type "bump" to bring their thread back up when no one hasn't replied in a while.

those bits of plastic, if they are the ones underneath the intake, that only have stuff going into them but not out. basically they kinda hang off the intake tube, well those are what me and my friends call "bong boxes" (name is a long story), all this does reduce the amount of noise that comes from the intake while under acceleration.

when your short ram goes on, it doesnt have these extra bits so you will hear the intake noises that were once silenced by the bong boxes, the car wont work any different, maybe a slight horsepower gain, and underhood noise will increase quite a bit.

oh and BTW, try and use some punctuation while typing. its hard to figure out where your sentences begin and end.

That's called the resonator. Just to confirm, ya, it just helps make less sound in the intake system. If you live in an area that's not susceptible to flash flooding, I would go with an Injen CAI. It's longer and you would need to take out the resonator tubing to get it installed but it would be more horsepower while sacrificing about 3 to 4 mpg's.

Just to be clear a short ram isn't a CAI. Since it's so short the air isn't really gonna be cold, it's gonna be warm since it located so close to the engine. Just one thing, you'll have to have the opening into the resonator cavity area grinded to fit the end filter of the CAI in.

Grind what? NO NO You remove the drivers side inner splash shield and get the filter installed that way. That was funny though bout grinding to make the hole larger.
