Default 2001 Accord Engine... can i do this/should i do this?

I have a friend with a 2001 Accord LX with the 150 hp engine. He got freakin rocked in the left trunk side by a 240sx at a stoplight and his car split in half almost and is deemed totalled. Yet the engine and most everything up front is in perfect working order. It took quite a jolt but the engine is just chillin there. For 250 bucks he said he'd have it taken out and he'll give it to me. Can i drop that into my 93 Civ coupe? Seein as im getting it for $250 could i spend that extra money to make this work?? The engine bay is pinched a bit but not bad at all. I have compression testing equip at home and if all 4 read the same should I/can I do this?

Yes you can drop it in your Civic, very easily in fact. Accord motors are F series motors I believe, which are similar to the H series in preludes. If you buy a mount kit for it you can bolt the motor and tranny right in. The mount kit for a prelude motor into your car will work on that accord motor. You'll have to use your current Civic harness on it to make things easier for yourself electrically, and I'm not sure, but you may want to look into getting an OBD1 accord ECU, or just use a P28.

Good luck.

bolt right in? hmmm im not so sure of that. a h22 dosent just bolt right in either. even thouhg u get the mopunts u need, the alternator is still in the way. takes more than just a mount kit to drop theses motors in from waht ive sen.

That's what the mount kit is for. My friend has an H22 in his EK, and I know another guy that has one in his EG. I didn't notice any clearance issues with the alternator, it fit just fine. Now, power steering and A/C are entirely different issues.

if you look on hasports site, the mount kit for h22 motors also lists f-series motors so with a mount kit it is almost bolt in.
