Default 2000 Accord v6 Cannot idle P1399

Hello to everyone.
Newbie here. I am going to start from the beginning. Just out of the blues one day I was driving my accord around town and when I went shopping for about 1 hour my car could not idle on its own. I had to do the two feet driving one to hold the idle up and one on the brake. It missed a little while I drove it but it did run as long as I did not let up on the gas. By the time I got home about 10 minute later the car could idle on its own now. I did a scan on the car and I had cylinders 1-5 misfiring. So I went out and bought Denso iridium plugs. I did find 2 bad plugs. I cleared the code and it ran fine for the rest of the day. Next day the same problem came back had to drive with two feet again. But once again it clears up after awhile and I can just go back to driving with one foot. I scanned the car again it came up with code P1399. I have read through some of the other posts on this but I did not see any complete post with the solution. I noticed the car runs decent until i let it sit for awhile then it acts up and clears up after awhile. EGR?

Tips and advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

Kaiz

Could be an EGR valve sticking open. The nature of the part can easily make it an intermittent failure. You should observe the EGR position sensor feedback voltage at idle when the symptom is present.

Idealy it should be around 1.1 volts at idle. If it's above around 1.5 volts or more then it is open when it shouldn't be.

First, Thank you for replying to my post. I will try what you recommend. But I need to ask how do I test it. Do I just probe the wires with a multimeter? Sorry I really don't mean to sound ignorant I have been out of the car scene for some time now. But at least I still have my tools. hahaha

Yes. Back probe the connector. I can't tell you off the top of my head which wire is the sensor feedback. Again, obviously, I'm sure you know, this test is only applicable when the symptom is present.
