Default bro crashed my gsxr

so my brother crashed my 04 gsxr600 inside the dirt runoff at the track. he took the turn too fast and ran wide after he panicked and hit the front brake. it almost stood the bike up and they both tumbled a good distance. he's ok though since the suit that was also mine saved his skin. it was a bad idea having him convince me to track the 600 knowing that 90% of his 2yrs riding experience was on a 08 250R. he was supposed to follow me around until he go oriented with the track but after only 5 laps he decided to go it alone $(*&(*!!

anyway now the bike transmission is acting funny. after the crash i was able to ride it back to the pits despite the extensive damage to the shift side rearset. now it won't even go into neutral. it will only do 1st and 2nd. and as soon as i start moving in either gear with the clutch nearly engaged, the engine will die. it's like the bike shuts off. i checked the kickstand switch that looks like a plunger and it appears to be working. anyone experience this before?

Open the clutchside engine cover and inspect for damage, that would be where I would start, I binned my XR400 once against a rock, the engine cover folded inwards without braking and would randomly catch on the clutch making the most horrible noise. Im guesing somethig around that might be your issue.

I was looking to get a bike that is down but I am unsure about it. Is it safe to drive after an accident or is it better to purchase another bike? I want to own a bike this time around before I was leasing it.
