Default Method for Cleaning Block

Soda blasting, good or bad idea? Post blasting what is the best method to remove any residual media?

if you compare soda to sand blasting you will notice the sand blasting removes more material. soda (form of baking soda) is obviously finer than sand and will leave more of a shine. either one will clean the block. soda blasting is more cost effective and easier to cleanup. i personally would use soda blasting on carbon buildup like say on the cylinder head and use sand blasting on the exterior of the block.
