Default Fresh rebuild, wont start. cranks, and sometimes sputters but wont stay started

any ideas?
i just finished my rebuild, no CEL at all, recharged the new oil pump, oil light is off. everything is hooked up and fine. when i turn the key it tries to start, sometimes it sputters and flips once or so. but usually just sits there tring to get started. engine is timed (crank to cam) and the sparkplug wires are correct(checked like 50 times with manual, had it wrong at first). sparkplugs are sparking, the engine is compressing, anad i smell fuel. so any ideas why it wont stay running? its SOOOOO close to starting. but its just, not there....

edit:
also the distributer timing is correct. crank at tdc top of the compression stroke and its lined up perfect with wire #1.
also after each attempt at starting the intake stays on... there is a low hum from the intake like its always on, but goes off once the key is out of the ignition, but as soon as you try and start it,(and fail) it stays on..

Check the continuity of your injectors.

sparkplug wires are probably not correct

will check injectors.
and the sparkplug wires are correct. if you look at the dizzy head on, the upper left is #1, that goes to the piston at the right of the motor by the timing belt. it then goes clockwise, 2 being to the right on the dizzy, and the piston being to the left of #1.

Kid just said he had it wrong first, then fixed. It could still be wrong though. Could also be a bad dizzy.

everything like that worked before rebuild tho. just had bad seals/rings
would also like to add that everything else on the car still works fine..and no CEL's(not sure if it was in the original post)

could my cam be 1 full rotation off?
that would explain the slap noises, why im backfiring though the intake and exhaust, and why it wont start and shaking so hard.
any ideas? how would i check and make sure its right? all the marks are lined up, but if its 360 degrees off, itll look the same.

and i just got new spark plugs and the #1 looks like it hasnt been touched, its got gas on it and its clean. but the 4th one is BLACK like instantly. 2 3 are both kinda black. so this adds to my theory of the cam off.

sorry for double post. but i think i found it.

the firing order is 1324 correct?
well the dizzy is set up like this
13
24

so the order would be 1342-1342 wouldnt it? cause it starts at 1 nd goes clockwise.
but if the firing order is 1324, the dizzy should be
13
42.
right?

nvm...some guy had it wrong, the firing order is 1342. i had it ight. problem is something else

Definitely sounds like cam timing to me,
Don't forget that will also throw off the ignition timing too even though it looks good with the timing marks and a strobe.
