how much can I shave off my h23 head??
I've tried searching for the specs but I cant find em. i have a 95 lude, it had an h23a1 in it. but now it has an h23a jdm replacement. i was curious if i can just go off of the h23a1 specs for milling tolerances?? i was thinking 30thousanths....
I know, i plan on picking up a set of cam gears and tuning the perfect amount of overlap possible. i've spent alot of time tuning honda dual cams with gears and i think I pretty much have it down to an art these days. I just need to know if I can go off of the h23a1 volumetric and clearance measurements..? I dont want to over mill it, I seriously cannot find anything verifying if the jdm h23a and usdm h23a1 are built to the same specs....
In my experience increasing overlap has lifted the cam peak operating rpm, and decreasing it lowers the peak operating rpm but also increases torque.. neither increase or decrease have acquired any hp gain tho. regardless if the cam is stock or larger aftermarket. according to the place I bought my engine from(foreign engines of coeur dalene, idaho) the h23a was an offered engine in japan, just less common than the f22b. either way I took my cylinder head into my machinest and he measured the combustion chamber volume and it is almost identicle to what his spec sheet says it should be. so probably is a usdm motor.. i'll only be milling it 10thousandths because he has talked me into running a set of regrinds he has and aem tru-time gears. does anybody know how much compression I can get out of h22 pistons tho? I'd like to do a piston swap over milling it if I can
