Rear LCA bushings
Well Ive decided to finally put on my bilstein/GC combo that Ive had sitting in my room for like 7months. Of course with my car being a 94 and having damn near 125,000 on the clock, the rear shock bolts are rusted solid in the rear LCAs. Im planning on just cutting off the bottom of the shocks with a sawzall and torching/drilling the bushings out of the LCAs. Ive heard that you cant get these bushings from acura, just the LCA assembly with bushing, so I am planning on popping in some aftermarket bushings as opposed to buying the whole lot. My question is, who makes after market bushings, where can I get them, and how much? Im sure energy suspension makes this part but I would prefer a bushing similar to stock compositon. If a stock type bushing is unavailable though, I will use polyeurethane, so information on where to get these would be appreciated as well.
thanks
thanks
You can get the LCA shock bushings from Acura. I had the same problem with my rear shocks and I ended up cutting the shocks off like you plan on doing. Prothane and Energy Suspension both make lower LCA shock bushings. If you use bushings from Honda you need to have them pressed in. The Poly bushings won't need to be.

I just went through this mess and finally have my car back on the road. I had to cut mine out too. You can purchase the bushings from your local acura dealership. Most likely they will have to order them so go ahead and tell the dealership to get you some. You DO NOT need a press to get the new ones in. All you need to do is get some grease, a 27MM socket, a washer to distribute force, and a BFG(big freakin hammer) They go in fairly easily, just tap them in. It worked for me, so good luck.

Before you start cutting, at least try getting the bolts out normally. Use lots of PB Blaster to eat through the rust, and maybe an electric impact wrench or something. Mine came off just fine, and I had 105K when I lowered my car. If the bolts will come out normally, why go to all the trouble of doing all that other stuff (unless you just want to replace the bushings w/ polyurethane anyway, then go right ahead).
a few months ago I soaked the bolts in pb blaster twice a day for a week straight, but to no avail. It would have been a godsend if the bolts would have just came out easy, but they truly are rusted solid to the LCA. So you guys are saying that I can actually buy the LCA bushings from acura without buying the Lower control arm itself?
io hate the es bushing kit. THey squeak horrendously and since they rotate vs twist the way stock does it feels like i have lost dampening. even with tokicos on the hardest setting i just dont like them. i also greased them up real good but didnt seem to help.
