Default Tuning a Prelude SH!!!

So I had a plan to buy a p28 ECU and chip it to tune my prelude because I plan to install some cams. But I was talking to the shop that would do my tuning and they said that I can't do that with an SH prelude. They told me that the only way to tune it would be with a piggy back or a stand alone management system. I don't plan to do any kind of force induction just some head work and a solid tune, so t'm not going to get a 2k ems plus I don't have the dough. What have you guys done to tune a SH? What is an inexpensive wrought for my simple set up.

(Don't tell me to sell the car, I need it for at least another two years)

eManage Ultimate.

Or if you don't care about the ATTS system, you can get your p28. The ATTS will become inactive and just act like an open diff.

that emange is way to much money then I'm willing to spend, and I really don't care about the atts but the shop that I plan on taking it to said that it won't even work once I take out the original ecu. but it will work huh?

Yes, you can convert to OBDI and replace the ECU. That will allow you to tune the car fully.

Yes, and I have the PnP harness as well. This allows you to keep ATTS.

The shop is correct, you will lose the functionality of the ATTS system. As stated, your car will still be perfectly driveable, the ATTS system just becomes inactive and acts as an open differential, like a stock base model.

I have no problem being honest, I don't have any direct tuning experience, so I'm speaking strictly from internet searching and reading. The VAFCII would be a good lost-cost option. You could also consider the regular eManage (not the ultimate), which will probably run you about the same as the VAFCII or only slightly more. The VAFC seems like it actually has a few more tuning points for a slightly higher resolution map, but the eManage has the option to control ignition timing with an optional harness and can datalog through a laptop.

If you really don't care about the ATTS system, forgo the piggyback route and go OBDI and tune it. Just keep your stock ecu around when you need to go through deq.

I was reading around, and the VAFC-ll does not have the capability to tune the ignition so the emanage would proble be a good fit. thanks for the input, I had thoughts of swaping out my tranny for a base trans with lsd(I know its alot of work because of the adapter but I'm still thinking about).
Thx again
