Default IM and TB

I have a jdm b18c sir motor and want to change out the ugly dual runner system. What are the best options? I don't want to spend very much, but do plan on doing a full rebuild after i get most of the bolt ons done.

mods: aem cai, type r cams, chipped ecu, crap header and exhaust, stock cat.

if your gonna leave the mods as are id probably leave the manifold. But look around for a used skunk2 or Blox if your tryin to stay cheap.

victor-x FTW lol or something like that.
lol i remember getting pissed off at people who ask this question when i was an uber noob.
what are your goals as far as power and where its located?

rebuilding is really not a goal its maintenance, and doesnt add HP or change anything.

check out this thread. i typed up the effects of the size/length of the runners in noob lingo kind( since im not that far into the advanced world yet i still remember simple)

ahhh ok. Honestly no need for that unless your going sleeved. The added weight of them is pretty dumb when i can 98% assure you you will never see enough power to cause OE rods and pistons to fail. Go with some ITR pistons on factory rods with ARP rod bolts. As for intakes, Performer-X without a doubt than if thats your plan. What cams you planning to use

cams? something cheap and good. was told the car has type R cams now. so probably don't need to upgrade those quite yet.

low end is more important to me. i have seen skunk2 used for about 1/2 the price of new. so that is my pick most likely but not sure on tb.

There is no difference, spend your money somewhere else such as nice cams. Like 1.5slowmatic stated OEM rods can handle your power range just fine. The whole point of getting aftermarket pistons is to bump up compression correct? you can do that with OEM pistons. But let me guess this straight? you want to spend extra money where its not needed but when it comes to cams (will make the most drastic increase in performance) you want something cheap? You need to do a little more research.

Like i said, go ls crank ls rods p30 pistons and a nice set of cams you wont be disappointed. ITR oil pump ITR water pump with your girdle im sure that motor will be solid. I mean D-robs lsvtec build lasted a hell of a long time and from what i read it saw ALOT of abuse, and only went down the drain do to a dropped valve.

well until your fully built leave the TB alone. I'd go 65mm once you up the compression and such
