I am really seeking out useful (and in-depth) information on how to clean my MAP/MAF sensor. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could offer some assistance on how to clean it please!

Thanks so much in advance!!

A 98 Accord does not have a MAF sensor. The MAP sensor is bolted on top of the throttle body and there is really no need to clean it. Can you describe the problem youre having?

To answer tour question, just remove the two bolts from the map sensor on top of the throttle body. Carb cleanor or just air can be ways to clean it.

Well my a/c cuts off after the car runs for about 20 min and whenever I apply pressure to the accelerator such as driving up an incline or just accelerating to go faster than 40 mph ...the engine begins to choke/chug really badly. The car will then sort of shift into a neutral mode where the gas pedal will not even accelerate the car. I can floor it and it WILL NOT do anything. So then the car shuts off completely and all of my dashboard lights come on. And with my car in particular....my steering locks up and won't move.

And another fact: My RPM reader is NEVER at 0 anymore. It always stays idle at 1...even when parked for long periods of time.

Thanks to all who responded but someone told me that more than likely it was my MAF and would just be able to clean it so I am still confused as to what to do :-\

Honda has no procedure or interval for cleaning the MAP sensor. DO NOT use air to clean it. The pressure could destroy the sensor. It sounds like you might have 2 problems. Are both fans coming on when the compressor is running? Also it sounds like the fuel pressure might be too low.

Checking the fuel pressure is a basic diagnostic procedure. You need special tools to check. hondapartshero is asking a valid question.

@HondaPartsHero YES my check engine light has been on for about 4 mths now...and I had my car checked immediately when it came on but no auto shop (I took it to 5) found issues. They all stated that it must be due to an electric short issue/sensor that was making it come on...
