Any pics of where you guys have mounted ur shift lights? I'm looking to get an Autometer light..but don't plan on mounting it in the traditional corner (a-pillar?). Just looking for ideas.

I mounted mine behind the center air vent... doesnt block flow too much and shines through the vent nicely.

what shift light

 

I wired the upshift arrow indicator in a 92 VX cluster for a shift light for a friend of mine, served it purpose.

 

Pivot shift light

 

Here are pics of my Apexi shift light mounted in my pillar pod.

 

how does the shift light know what rpm to turn on, do you need a new ignition unit too?

 

With the Pivot shift light, you just plug it into the cigarette lighter, and there's a control box for it, that you use to determine the rpm you want it to light up.

When I had my shift light I mounted it at the bottom of the a-pillar

 

bah shift light who looks at those when your going 100.

 

i have a pivot tach...the shift light is mounted on the tach

 

i mounted my shiftlight next to my intercooler bearings...

 

do you guys prefer watching a tach or waiting for a light when drag racing, just a kinda off topic question...

I've always preferred shifting with the light, because I don't have a rev limiter, and like to stay consistent.

 

I was gonna hide mine behind my clock (eg hatch) because it didn't work all the time. Now I might but my WB o2 display there, once i build it.

Light for sure.

 

Ive heard that tach's RPM's are about 0200 off..... is that true? if so how accurate are shift lights? any brands to stay away from?
