Default strut to coilover conversions.. are bad for suspension?

so i was reading an article on strut suspension types between coilover suspension types, and the author was exclaiming that only honda ricer idiots would convert one to the other before finding that it will fall apart,

this being because strut type suspension systems having connecting to the steering knuckle have to pivot, and coilovers "dont pivot". Is that true? do coilover systems "not pivot" when bolted in place when steering left to right vice versa? im guessing if this were true, coilovers wouldnt belong on mcpherson type suspension units, and instead be setup for doublewishbone types. Is this a common misconception or am i just confused. edit: sorry and obviously i was confused, didnt even consider how most hondas are doublewishbone, as this dude wrongfully stated they werent...

anyone wanna clear that up for me?
