Do you have a CEL by any chance?

Hint: CEL = Check Engine Light

Well my VTEC does not engage until 6000 to 6500 rpms. Our tachs suck so when you accelerate real fast the needle gets a lot of momentum and you get a false reading. As for cutting off at 8000 that is odd. Mine cuts off at 9000 when I accelerate real fast. Try the search and check your oil and stuff.

Bad tank of gas?

I mean if you changed nothing on your car and aren't throwing any codes, it is really hard to diagnose the problem.

Was your car taken into a shop for any work recently?

Try taking your car to a shop and asking them to change your cap and rotor.

Cap and rotor are parts of the distributor.

I drove my car again today and the oil light came on...so my problem was probably oil related

i am currently using mobil synthetic oil but i heard people say that oil burns too quickly

i want to switch to red line but is it okay to put 2 bottles in without draining out the remaining mobil oil first??

Any help is appreciated

Dude, stay with the Mobile 1 just ck it every 500miles or after a hard drive. thats seems to be your problem- No oil.

Let us know how low you were on oil.

(Also ck your gas cap if its not on it could cause a problem)

could be the following:

1v-tec solenoid. check voltage and oil pressure

2broken oil pump which in case could mean low or no oil press.

Oil light you say? Dont drive the car and have it towed. Start the car only to check oil pressure.
