Default A/C & Heater Fan running, Daytime Running Lights on while ignition off & key out

My 95 Accord just turning 250,000 km mysteriously malfunctioned last week after a 1.5 hour drive - when I stopped to park the cark, turned off engine and pulled key out, the heater and A/C fans continued to run and the daytime running lights (DRL) stayed on. My garage (not a dealer) spent a couple of hours trying to diagnose the problem, concluded it was not the ignition, but could only offer a workaround solution - take out fuse for DRL and tell me to turn heater & AC fan switch to off position. Since then I have also noticed my cruise control no longer works. Also, despite the workaround solution, the small green or yellow light to indicate whether on recirc or fresh air stays on, and if I do not use my car for a few days, starting it is a problem (because these little lights or something else is still draining the battery). If possible, I don't want to put significant amount of money into diagnosing the problem or replacing major parts. I welcome any suggestions as to what may be the source of problem. Thanks.

I suggest finding a way to put a significant amount of money into diagnosing your vehicle because electrical diagnostics can be time consuming. Especially when working on a cark.
