Hey guys, a friend of mine has an '00 Civic. He says when he drives it, every now and again the dash lights will pulsate, going from bright to dim. He's not sure if the headlights do it as well.

Anybody have a guess what this could be? He suspected it was an alternator connection or something or other.

My 97 accord did that when it was losing power. My A/C fan belt was the culprit.

What do you mean when you say "it was losing power."?

 

my 96 civic does it sometimes i wondered what it could be too

 

Check whether 7.5A dash fuse 15 is blown and then have the alternator tested.

 

Does he have a system? My friends GTI's lights used to pulse like crazy, but he was pushing 2 Audiobahn 12's through a amp & cap.

 

Nope, no system. Just the stock stuff.

 

its normal, my car did it all the time even with upgraded grounds and everything. I just accepted my dimming lights lol. I had my electrical system checked and 1 place tells me some part in my alternator is blown and 2 other places say everything is fine.
