Honda CR-Z U.S. pricing starts at $19,200
Honda has announced U.S. pricing information for the 2011 CR-Z.
On sale August 24th, the hybrid coupe will be priced from $19,200 (not including a destination and handling charge of $750). The base model comes nicely equipped with an AM/FM/CD/USB audio system, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, keyless entry and cruise control. For an extra $1560, the CR-Z EX adds a premium audio system (with seven speakers and a subwoofer), Bluetooth connectivity, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. At $22,560, the CR-Z EX with Navigation features all the aforementioned equipment as well as a navigation system with voice recognition.
Under the hood, all CR-Zs feature a hybridized 1.5-liter petrol engine with 122 hp (91 kW / 124 PS) and 128 lb-ft (174 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which costs $650. Honda estimates the CR-Z manual will achieve an EPA rating of 31 mpg city / 37 mpg hwy, while the CR-Z CVT will likely return 35 mpg city / 39 mpg hwy.

A good example of this would be the Insight. The first generation is EPA rated at 60mpg highway, but most owners average mid 70's. My commuter (Insight-II) is rated at 41mpg combined, and I average 53-55mpg per tank. I don't do any of that retarded hyper-miling stuff either. I've simply adjusted my driving style to use regenerative braking as much as possible.
I would wait and see what the actual real-world MPG's are on the CR-Z before forming a solid conclusion.
It doesn't get 40mpg in the EPA combined cycle. The defined acceleration and deceleration rates on the EPA cycle do not fair well for Honda's IMA system, which greatly benefits from gradual deceleration.

i don't think anyone has put this together yet but basically the si, dx and hf are all in one car. you just push which one you want to drive. Sadly, everything is tested in dx mode so if your concern is gas milage you would want to have it in the econ (hf) mode. It is rumored that this will give you closer to 50 mpg.
