what would you do if you were in my situation?
im going to make this short and straight to the point. ok so i bought a 99 si off a fellow ht member a couple months back that had a lost title. i went to the dmv to get it registered since tags arent do until August. i already smogged it and it passed. the problem is that it has a lien holder by someone that lives in texas and im supposed to get his signature on the release of ownership and also get it notarized. i sent the form 3 times already through certified mail and received the slip signed by (i believe to be) his wife, so i know they received it but they do not mail it back to me. ive been waiting patiently for some cooperation and at this point the dmv told me the only way for me to get the title under my name is to get a bond that holds the value of the car. i havent checked how much this bond is going to cost me but since i just got laid off 2 months ago i really dont have the money to buy a bond. so my question is what would you do? should i try to come up with the money to pay for the bond? should i sell the car even though i would just pass this problem to someone else? or should i part it out and try to get most of my money back? i originally bought this car as a daily driver and it is bone stock so i dont know if i should just deal with this problem or get rid of it and get another daily driver. please give me some advice as i am really confused on what to do.
