97 civic fan problem
My car started over heating today so automaticly I turn on the heater but the air doesnt get hot(Last time I checked the heater worked about 3 weeks ago) I pull over to find neither of my fans are on. I turn the ac on and my left fan kicks on but not my right. But that is the only time my fan will turn on is if the ac is on. its a little passed 12am here so I havent bin able to go out and take a look at my car yet going to check it out in the morning. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice. I did a search and the only thing i saw that might relate to me is to jump the fan switch and see if it works. Any info would help thanks. Oh and this has never happened before
Left fan as in looking at the engine from the front or left fan as when sitting in the drivers seat? If its the larger fan shroud fan thats your radiator/cooling fan and it sounds like your fan switch is bad or you have air in your lines or you may have a bad thermostat ( http://techauto.awardspace.com/overheating.html ) If it does cut on when you jump the switch then your switch is probably bad. If your heater isn't blowing hot air you need to check your coolant level.
left fan as if im sitting in the driver seat. And as for the fan switch http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...&parentId=52-0 thats it right? And where is it located at?
What is overheating? like what temp was it? top of the gauge? steam coming out?
test the switch, but I'm guess the system is normal. Fans rarely go on on these little engines.

i just jumped the fan switch n the fan came on so im guessing its the fan switch.. Now im not a great mechanic or at that a good one.. so im looking at this fan switch wondering if i just use a socket to take it off or what? And to answer your question it goes passed the red line
Yeah fan switch comes off with a 12mm or 14mm wrench, been a while since I've changed one but I remember it being one of the two wrenches listed... It's about a 45 second fix...
