Default 96 civic with b18c1 motor help

hey guys i need some help.i just picked up a civic that had a b18c1 swap.... car isnt running right... i did a compression check and the numbers where 185 63 60 182 ... what do you guys think could be prob? it also burns oil (has black smoke c0ming out exhaust). i want to do a full rebuild with nitrous.....i read a lil bit about using ls crank n ls rods give me better torque? i dont know much bout turbos so i want to stick to N/A. so i should go high comp for a N/a all motor build correct?i looked on ebay at forged internals about 700.... should i get a ls crank and forged ls rods? and get the block bored over a lil maybe .2 or .4?i plan on doing a full valve job as well and try to get some better cams and cam shafts.... i am on a budget as i only make 200 ish a week but this car will be my money pit!no shops around me are honda or acura specialist so when i take my motor to get bored and machined i need to know specs for the crank rods and pistons..any help would be nice..is it worth getting ls crank and ls rods? some one give me some insight please..also i need a motor mount for the driver side by the strut..how do i fig out which mount that iget...b18c1 mount or 96 civic dx mount? or is there a company that does a special mount for this application.... thanks in advanced

Ur piston rings are no good on #2 & 3. Rebuild would be a good choice. U need stock civic motor mount. I would stick with the gsr crank.

The gsr internals can withstand higher rpm's. Well the 2 middle are always in stroke but the is no combustion thus all the unburn gas(black smoke). Is it a stock ECU?

to be honest bout the stock computer question i honeslty dont know...i can take a photo of it tom in the light and e mail it to u..( i dont know how to upload photos)maybe i can send it to you via e mail and u can upload it for everyone to see... i do know that it looks like there is a adapter piece right after the harness clips into the ecu...so your saying stick with b18c gsr rods and crank instead of ls crank and rods?( i heard using ls crankn rods gives you more stroke and inturn gives you more torque?how can i tell about the ecu?

U can put a LS crank with LS rods with itr or gsr pistons into the block with no problems. It will raise compression. It would be a very fast setup. Very good setup if done right. The adapter piece is a jumper harness from OBD2 to OBD1, open the ecu and look for any aftermarket chips.

"open the ecu and look for any aftermarket chips? " your speaking spanish my friend... i dont understand how do i do that? ill do it tho if you tell me... and yea this car is a project... i just want it to be done by next spring... i will take my time and do it right as well... this car will be a weekendcar only as i have my bike for DD and a nice jeep grand Cherokee for a rainy DD.so this car can pretty much sit... if i do ls crank and ls rods(ill get them used) what do i tell the machine shop on how to balance them and what not... or should i get forged ls rods and pick up a used LS crankand get it balanced and micro polished? and how much would ITR pistons be? i really apreicate all your help.. ill be pulling this motor on fri.

Just remove the screws from the top of the ECU. Forged rods would be a hella of alot better but everything is pretty much bolt on. Look online and some people may be selling itr pistons on ls rods already mounted. New they go for around $180. The pistons only.

well i plan on redoing it all..head job i fig will cost me 300-400... block getting bored and honed, new bearings, everything check and having the shop assemble it all should be like 700? like you said 180 for pistons(should i get weisco or JE or cp pistons with a higher compression ratio or are itr better? like i said i found a few sellers on ebay who sell them with h beam rods for 700 ish shipped...plus 40 bucks for over sized...so my main question...get itr pistons or aftermarket higher comp....and what trans should i use? b16 trans? or stick with the trans i got in it now(id assume its b18c1 gsr trans) how can i tell... and about the whole ecu question my CEL is on right now... took it to auto zone and there scanner would not hook up to it if that helps u out any....

if its a jdm ecu won't work on US scanners and obd1 ecus don't give much info jump the 2 pin connecter by the ecu and count the flash's on the check engine light. if your 2 cly are that low its more then likely missfire codes or fuel trim wouldn't worry untill you rebuild it

They do sell them as kits, u can use all except the driver side. Innovatie is almost the same but less expensive.

Take a picture of the biggest rectangle chip on it. Near the back of the ecu.
