Default IFO FIS class: more restrictions?

After 20+ events, the IFO heads up race class, Forced Induction Sport, for daily driven street cars, has been pretty successful so far with keeping out purpose built drag cars. The class is mostly won by 11 and 12 second true street cars, rarely 10 second cars, never 9s.

An issue came up at the Oklahoma event last week. As of now there is no restriction on skinnies and one missing head light. For those who do or plan to race in the FIS class ONLY, should skinnies be banned and all heads lights be required? I say yes, ban skinnies and all head lights should be required. I am all for adding restrictions to keep FIS an entry level heads up class. IFO FIS racers, let us know what you think!

ya know me and scott were talking about restrictions the other day but it wasnt for the FIS class

we were referring to the sfwd class we cam up with these as being the only way to be in it

1. 24.5 nothing bigger than that
2. 67mm turbo nothing bigger
3. stock tranny no dogs
4. no front ends

the basis for this was to be more of a street car

I do not think the Skinnies restriction should be added. The difference the skinny will make on a "street" car would be minimal. Let them put the skinnies on and race.
I can see the headlight issue, if you want an "unmodified body" rule to be in place, then both headlights should remain in tact as well.

(FWIW, I do also agree w/ sanman000719 as well)

Cliff what are we classifying as "skinnies" ? is there going to be a tire we can or cannot run, a rim width, etc? ,my front rims are 4.5in wide but i run a standard kumho tire on them, not anything like a Mickey Thompson or M&H.

As far as the headlight goes, I dont ever pull mine out so its not an issue to me if anyone were to run with one out. If we are running a "real street" class then I guess it would be DOT tires all the way around, either way my car still fits.

I think the rules are fine the way they are, It also seems that FIS seems to have more RWD cars as its an intermediate class for us RWD cars other than the outlaw class.

I built my car by as many class rules as I could, in order to stay competetive, I think a mid year change wouldnt be so to speak "fair"

if anything maybe poll a SRWD class?

Keep this thread ON TOPIC! Skinnies and one missing head light for the FIS class is the topic, not FWD. Anyone posting off topic will get an email punch to the nuts from IFO.

truthfully man i wouldnt expect you to say anything else i mean **** if i spent 6k on a tranny i woudlnt either lol.

majority of the cars are in the 10's some in the 9's like 5 in the 8's wouldnt tightening the class up be more exciting creating close races

ok.... well for the FIS class it would make sense to run both headlights. If your wanting to be strict ban the skinnies also.

I say leave the fwd class rules alone and definitely two working headlight for the street class. I built my car just to run IFO fwd class and would hate to have to change turbo.

lol an email punch to the nuts is funny stuff

lights in/skinnies can be easily replaced with the spare tire things so no need to ban them

/\ That is right, I think he won? Bradenton? We put him in that class because FIS that day was all 8 second cars. It was a very weak turnout all around, so did not really matter that event. That event was a one time deal, when the class was first started with fewer restrictions.

So what isolates the sfwd cars and the FIS cars? If there is no rules or reg's, a sfwd car could enter and pretty much take all right? Or am I wrong. So there needs to be something if I am.

absolute full interior, no widened front ends, street legal exaust, no lexan, current tags/registion, and most importantly payout amounts and IFO tech keep the fwd drag cars out of fis.

banning skinnies and requiring all head lights will help in my opinion. Adding this rule mid season will not affect any racers plans or pocket books. It will just slow the faster guys down a very little bit. More than a few racers were complaining at the Oklahoma event.
