95 V6 timing belt change interval
Hey guys, I have a 1995 Accord V6 that I picked up from my grandmother. The car has 125K on the odometer, but was driven very easily for 100K of those miles.
So I was thinking of having the valves adjusted and maybe doing a the timing belt and water pump. When searching online and looking in the owners manual there does not seem to be a timing belt change interval, infact it is specific to just the 4cyl model and says 90K miles in the owners manual. I am not sure why the V6 would be different, they are both interferance engines and both have a belt, but for some reason the manual separates them from the 4cyl. I don't want to spend the extra $600 if I don't need to, I would rather throw the money into my S2k (the fun car
), but I also don't want this thing failing and then I won't have a daily driver.
So does anyone know the recomended change interval and why it might be different than the 4cyl? Any thoughts on how long I could potentially go avoiding changing the timing belt without having a significant risk of breaking the belt?
Thanks guys!

Well, in my opinion, a belt is a belt. It is a wear item, I really don't see the difference if it is 4 cyl or 6 cyl. My Haynes manual didn't differenciate between 4 and 6 cyl maintenance schedule. I suggest you replace it very soon! 125K is a lot of miles on the original belt.
I believe its part of the 80K service, in Japan, most cars have a sticker to remind you to change the belt at 100,000 km, thats only 60K miles, but city driving is concidered extreme driving due to all the sudden accellerations from all these dang stop lights. If you have any oil leak behind the timing cover, then the interval is shortened. If the belt breaks on an Interferrence engine, replace engine. Get it done now, change all the parts and us OEM parts and water pump.
