Default How To Mount 90-91 Civic SI Seats Into CRX

(First Write Up in progress)Seats are in and level! PICS WILL BE UP SOON! Have to upload on other computer with sd card slot.

Locate materials needed 48'' Tall stock inch and half wide 1/4'' thick also your going to have to purchase some bolts that are 1''1/2 so you can fit washers in between. You need 28 washers that are the size either the same size half dollar or a little smaller. Take one of your stock bottom bolts to Menards or your local hardware store and located a matching bolt thats the same thread and 1''1/2 I believe the packaging said 8mm diameter 1.25 pitch you need 4 of those, and I used for the holes I tapped 5/16 diameter because I dont have a metric threader you need 4 of those same length as the others. Piece of card board 17'' by 17''(nothing important you will need to cut it up)
Gather tools needed:
Measuring tape
metric sockets needed to take apart the seats 12-16mm
Allen Keys set
2 good pairs of needle nose pliers
flat head and phillips screwdrivers
2 small C clamps (1 is fine I used 2 because I wanted to weld both at the same time)
Cutting tools (air wheel is what i used)could use sawzall would work fine too
A file or wheel/bench grinder would work
Corded drill unless you have a badass cordless
Needed drill bits to properly gap the hole before threading
Hole threader
Wire brush attachment for power drill
Last but not least a welder
You now shouldn't have to make any trips back to the tool box.

You can cut the stock now or later when ever you prefer you need:
Six:2''Long 1/4''Stock
Four:3''Long 1/4''stock
Two:4''Long 1/4''stock
(Note:Use grinder or file on your stock pieces so you don't slice your hand open!)

You should have something looking like this this was before I noticed my measurement was of and needed a 3''mounts on the back)

Step 1: If your stock seats are still in the car remove My stock ones were bolted in with 4 13mm bolts, once you get all 4 out don't get in any hurry just to rip the seat out or your going to screw up your seat belt plug! Simply tilt your seat on its side reach over and unplug. Remove the seat from the car and if you still care about the condition of your pre-existing seats put a rug or a piece of card board down example(Beer/pop case regular box or rug sheet exc. you catch the drift. Then once your situated unbolt the bottom track (Note: Slide track forward unbolt back 2 slide back then take off the 2 front makes it way easier)

Step 2: You should now have your 2 seats out of the car and the tracks off. Toss the tracks to the side we'll get to those a bit later. Now take your 2 Civic Si seats and put them down onto your rug or cardboard and if the tracks are still on these just take them off and toss them to the side you no longer need the sell them toss them do what you please. Now take your recliner lever cover off and unbolt the 2 bolts on that side the one 2 that need to be removed once removed gently turn over to the inside mounted allen bolt the holds the back rest up locate correct size allen break loose. (Note these are kinda a pain to break loose so if your using allens that are not on a block with more allens might be hard to break it loose I thought I was going to break my block it was flexing really bad I suggest a bar for some sort of leverage)
Ok you just have your seats in 2 pieces, grab your 2 seat bottoms and flip them over so your looking at the bottoms grab your 2 needle nose pliers and spin the upholstery hog rings and pull them apart. (They are located here)(To get the bottom one off I bent it back and then peeled it off)
Once all of them are off carefully roll off the back side of the seat off slow so you don't rip or tare your cover. Once the back is rolled up it should not want to come completely off at all at least mine didn't I just left it connected to the foam, roll up the front. Once the front and back are carefully rolled up push the foam off of the seat pan carefully so you don't damage your foam its slightly glued in a few places but if you stick your hand push it off were the foam is sticking its ok to loose little fragments but as soon as you start rushing you might just loose a chunk.

Step 3: So now you have 2 seat pans ready to weld all your stock is hopefully cut by this point.

First take your 2 tracks with the seat belt latch is bolted to and wire brush down the front part get it to look like this so you are weld ready:
Take your 2 pieces of stock and your 2 C claps and put it on the front like so. If you don't have 2 clamps its fine use 1 and do it one at a time. Get those welded on it should look like this (Pic here Soon)

This is where your new mounts are going
Step 4: OK your track is done all your need to do to get that side of the track done take two of your six 2'' pieces & drill hole in appropriate spot then both of the sides with the seat belt latch are ready to go you can weld these too if you'd like.Take your seat pans and weld the two 2'' & the two 3'' 1/4''stock like this(Pic here Soon)With the last two 2''pieces i used to reinforce the back 3 inch mount just to be safe.

Step 5: Locate the proper spot on your new 1/4''stock mounts and find where you you need to pre-drill before you thread your hole you can use a level or if you trust your eye leveling ability. After holes are drilled and threaded your pretty much done as long as everything lines up. I'm personally going to paint mine with some walmart paint so it doesn't rust.

Step 6 Final Step: Ok if you made it this far everything has gone successful and your now ready to put your seats back on You can reuse the metal hog ties or I've also seen other people use zips ties I tried it on my buddies crx seat that came out of my passenger I put the top half on his driver super sharp now I even thought it seemed to hold together better tighter than the hog ties at least. Once your Seat foam and cover is tightly back on your now ready to connect it back to the tracks bolt on the tracks to the new mounts with your shims. Line the seat up tighten your bolts and your seats are now ready to go in the car congrats.
