91 Accord throttle gets stuck wide open
I have a 91 Accord EX with 188k on it. All is well until a few days ago, I drive it and all of sudden, the throttle sticks wide open, the revs are screaming toward redline, so I give a hard tap of the accelerator pedal and it goes back to normal. It continues to happen, but at least I kinda' know it's coming. I get home, and spray some WD-40 and then grease onto the spring-looking thing that sits outside the throttle body where the accelerator cable attaches after coming through the firewall. Seemed ok for a few days, but it happened again this afternoon. The only big change is that it has gotten very hot around here...hitting the 90's.
Anyone have any ideas about this?
Thanks much in advance...Mark

First, if it happens to you while driving, make sure to put it in neutral. You might know this but a lot of stupid drivers don't know about it cough toyota drivers cough.
It might be time to replace the entire throttle cable, but you should try cleaning out the throttle body first. There can be some buildup in there. There are a lot of instructions on here and on google on how to do it. Pretty easy stuff.
