f'ed up my strut.
i was putting on my last coilover today and when i was using the impact gun i guess i stripped the shock because when i let it down it started shooting out liquid. yea i f'ed it up bad. anyone on here know what to do or am i just fucked. its lowered all the way so its not really using the strut anyway but i know i need it. did this happen to anyone else? i need some help here. is it bad to drive on just the spring and no strut for a bit? ill go to a junk yeard asap and get new rear struts. thanks in advance.
drove on it today and it rides like a dream. its about a 1/2 inch lower than the other side but i just adjusted the other side to compensate. should i get stock shocks from a junkyard or just get after market ones? i know i gotta get two either way. peace
im pretty much in the same boat as you man. I have Skunk2 coils with integra spring rates for my hatch and i plan to use them on my stock shocks...they aren't even on the car yet and im already having second thoughts about them. If you can find a set of used shocks made for lowered cars, i would pop the cash for em!!
Edit: Just wondering...what coilovers do you have??

i got shitty rsracing coilovers but i am really happy with the way they perform. easy to adjust and install. look awesome too. dont worry about putting the coilovers on with the stock shocks and struts. its just a little stiffer ride. but eventually we both gotta get some good shocks. just make sure you dont strip the hex thingy in the back because that is what caused my problem.

What are you smoking dude? The reason your shock sprayed liquid out is because it's blown. This is what will happen to all of your shocks if you run them stock with coilovers cranked all the way down. Essentially, this means they are innefective now, and you're going to be bouncing all the way down the road. This is not good from a handling point of view, and also not good from a safety point of view. Just get some new aftermarket shocks already.

Yeah man, thats not really safe driving on a blown shock. Suppose your driving like 70 mph and your spring/shock decides to break and your one corner drops. One of my shocks went bad on my install and I had to wait an extra 2 weeks for my replacement. It sucks but you'll be happier in the long run. Buy some KYB AGX's, they are the cheapest adjustable shocks made I think, like 70 bucks a pop.
4 way adjustable too.(i think)
