PLEASE HELP..POSSIBLE CARB ISSUE OR STATOR
I have a 2001 CR250R. I just rebuilt the top end, replaced the clutch and clutch basket, put in new reed values, fork seals ect, ect,. I put it all back together and it won't start. side note, i had to replace my clutch lifter and clutch pushrod which required me to remove the flywheel and stator. the stator had marks for timing and it looked like it only could go on one way and the marks lined up so, thats a possiblity but i don't think so. I rebuilt this bike several times and til this point thought i was bike savy but this has me stumpped! I have spark, i have good compression, but i'm not getting fuel into the cylinder, the spark plug stays completly dry (its new, not fouled). I cleaned the carb so many times i can rebuild them with my eyes closed. the jet and lines are a clear, the bowl fills with gas, the floats work great, it all looks good but gas won't get sucked into the motor! I was thinking maybe an air leak someplace but i can't find one. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPREACIATED!!!! I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RIDE IT ONCE THIS SUMMER AND SPENT A GRAND OVER THE WINTER IN PREVENTITIVE MAINTANCE...ISN'T THAT IRONIC, NOW IT WON'T RUN.
They look good, i think the next route will be spraying some carb cleaner in the cylinder and see if it will run off that for a moment so i know it is a fuel issue for certain. Other than that I'm not sure what to do.
what seems peculiar is that with an engine that only has 2 strokes in the combustion cycle... is that everything is basically mechanical in nature. that would mean a reed releasing vacuum or perhaps a vapor lock of some kind that is keeping fuel from gravity feeding into the cylinders....
I do think that Priming the carbs is a good idea, but do not expect that carb cleaner is the answer.
