Default Almost everything you need for a sweet B16....Dial ups beware!!!

Finally have all my **** together. Oil pump does not come with a new 26.9mm X 2.4 mm O ring, so I cant get my motor all the way back together

In the mean time I thought I'd snap these pics. I dont see how people do these swaps for $1800-$2000

Hopefully everythings in and all the bugs worked out in a couple weeks. First swap for me and I'm starting to get very anxious.

No water pump or tensioner in the pics..their one of the few items installed. hehe

let me know what you think

Looks like you will be having fun! Is that motor oil, or is it that flush stuff? If its motor oil.. you'll be needing more then just 3!

That's not motor oil.

It's Honda MTF!

Don't settle for anything else on a Honda tranny..

Good Luck with the swap! My Z6/Y8 swap is pissing me off right now....

If compression is bad....then changing the rings would help solve that problem correct?? I mean its not like having bad compression and your engine is screwed....Id suggest changing the piston rings anyways...whats it gonna hurt to pull your pistons out and rework um a lil??

I know thats what ill do with whatever swap I do next......

I will do a compression check again, but after most of the pretty parts are installed. The motor is in half right now. Compression was decent when I checked it, but figured what the hell, everyone was suggesting the headgasket.
I took the head to a shop for valve guides, valve seals, and inspect everything else. Make sure Vtec will hit Bottom work was very tempting..

It all looks good to me.

Im hoping this one will hold up while I build something USDM like a b18c or b17 block. OBD1 is in future plans. Cali emmissions

I know theres some guys that just "throw the motors in, and have no problems. This Motor is from HMO so I cant wait to see waht all the hype is about

what kind of clutch is that. looks like its stock organic friction. should have gone with carbon kelar, it will last forever and will not eat up your flywheel.

Its an Action clutch from Exospeed.com Im not going to be doing any hardcore racing, so we'll see how she holds. I only put about 5000 miles a year on the car if that.

Thanks for the replies.. made alot of leadway today. Got the headgasket in, intake manifold installed, new cam seals, double checked the bearings and main bearings (look very clean) and removed old oil pump and pick up.

I also forgot to mention that if anyone needs an almost complete parts list with OEM honda part numbers let me know. I have it in Excel spread sheet with prices. Its missing a couple of o rings but thats it.

I wish I would of had the list when I started my many trips to the Honda dealer.

hey monty..AROUND how much money did u spend total for these misc parts?

i was worried since dealers can charge a LOT for a little part

basically, im buying a complete swap (motor, tranny, ecu, wiring harness, axles, and a few things)

and i knew i needed a few other small things but i didnt know i needed THAT MANY things..so u can be the example i follow..hehe..

so send me that list of parts u have..and keep me updated on the swap

Heres a shot before I took the head off / in for work....

Notice the broken header stud? One of a few problems from HMO

You can almost make out the year of the motor..hehe

I'm trying to keep some pics of the progress so I can put up a website one day.

Man i wish i had the knowledge to install a B16 and all the ins and outs of my car. I would do exactly what Monty is doing. I'd make sure i get all the right parts and do everything right. It would be so fun just building my own Mustang killer.

So monty, you're doing a P&P job on the head right?!
Gona buy a DC or JDM header, maybe an aftermarket intake manifold.
What are your ultimate plans for this motor? Kickin everyones *** on the way to work? (hehe mine does)

Ultimate plans for motor...Hmm

Wont get a header yet, because I want to go obd1 with b17, or 18c5 block. (cali) Intake mani maybe if I ever upgrade the valve train.

Ultimately I'd be happy with a USDM block, BAR legal, and then maybe supercharge if its possible. We're talking like 2-3 years though. I am going to try and find a shell to drop my D16a6 in for a commuter. The a6 still get 38 miles to the gallon.
