Default Changing starter in B16?

I have a 00 Si. I believe my starter is starting to die on me. Is installation of a new starter an easy job for a casual wrench turner such as myself? Where is the starter located, and is it easy to get too? What do rebuilt starters go for on a B16? How long should I expect to spend on this install?

how much time you spend on the project is impossible to answer. you could get struck by lightening during the project and never finish.

don't know the price for a starter. use the search function they have nowadays on the interwebs.

this being an easy/hard job is entirely relative to your perspective on things. that's not an answerable question either.

as for where the starter is... left side of your motor, on the top, underneath the distributor (with spark plug wires), sticking out of your transmission. 2 bolts (12mm) then a few bolts for the wires to it. erm, not bolts, nuts.

The bolt on the backside of the block is kind of a bitch. Expect to spend <1/2 hour taking it off (sometimes it gets stuck hit it with a jack handle or broom stick) 15 minutes putting it back on. I think it was 125 for a new one. It's been a while since I've done it. If possible have your current starter tested. I thought my starter was going bu it was just a bad negative battery cable.
