Default 1994-1997 Accord Auto Transmission questions

I am helping a buddy source an automatic transmission for his 1996 honda accord. My main question is are all the 1994-1997 all interchangable? I know my civics but not my accords any help would be great.

According to my Transtar catalog, the 94-97 transmissions ( assuming that your buddy has a 4cyl) are MPOA,AOYA,BOYA, and it seems that there were a few engine combinations available for the 5th generation Accords,
2.2 L F22B1 I4 145 hp (108 kW)
2.2 L F22B2 I4 130 hp (97 kW)
2.2 L F22Z2 I4 150 hp (112 kW)
2.2 L H22A I4 200 hp (CF2 SIR)
There are many things to consider when swapping in different transmissions, one is the ECM, the transmission control may be different from a F22B1 than a H22A, the gear ratio may be different, since the H22A has more hp/torque, it may have a higher ratio which will make your F22B1 a gutless wonder. Shift points may be different, it is hard to say. I would keep apples to apples.

The motor is a FB22B2, and we plan to put a F22 trans back in. I guess I will have to see which motor it may come from.

I cannot say for sure that there are differences...I will look further and if I find any more information for you I will post here.

The auto boxs are all the same between the '94-'97 4cyl cars. The shifting is controlled by the transmissions controller which is inside the car. The only other difference is the Wagon has a lower final drive ratio vs the coupe and sedans.
I believe a '90-'93 transmission will also work, but the gear ratios are different from the '94-'97.

In the FAQ section there is a link on the different transmissions that can be seen F/H Series Gear Ratios
'94-'97
Sedan/Coupe..... Wagon

2.736 1............... 2.736 1
1.483 2............... 1.483 2
1.026 3............... 1.026 3
0.674 4............... 0.674 4
4.133 final.......... 4.285 final
