yes you read the title correctly after so much work on my project i was starting to hate it but after getting all the parts and information, doing some fabrication work i started to love my eg again until that is..... i went to install my gsr door panels it was a mission and a half trying to install it but w/e after some cutting here and there on the door i was able to stay it fitted on the door until I CLOSED THE DOOR that is when i've noticed that the door doesnt properly close unless i lift up the door panel out of place!!!!!!!!!!!! after sending countless work hours installing this and that on the car and spending a few thousands i have decided to either A finish the body work and sell it for a fast 3k or B part it out, junk the car and buy a CRX and drop my b18b1 into it... any help, suggestions or information on the door panels to correctly fit when i attempt to close the door would make me love the eg again. but so far i am looking at option B part out the car, junk the body and buy a crx.... please honda lovers help me with this torture civic from hell that has been a project for 2 years and only seen the streets close to maybe 10 times!!!

ditching a 2 year project just cause a door panel doesn't fit properly seems a bit weak. my suggestion: make the door panel work properly

 

so your going to buy an older car, which most likely has more problems, more siezed bolts, more missing parts probaly, makes sense

If you go back to EG door panels your hate will go away.

smh in the last 2 years the car has been getting modded out with lots of aftermarket parts... NOT THE DOOR PANELS TAKING 2 YEARS so yall haters stfu... i have asked a few of my friends and they simply just told me part it out buy a crx and drop your engine into the rex. a few other people told me to just get the regular civic dash and door panels and forget about anymore fab work.. i just dont like the look of the stock civic dash but i like the integra but the integra weights more ehhhh positive reply's are good not negative hating replies are a waste and it wont help me decide on what to do and no i dont hate our cars...I JUST HATE MINES!!!!

lmao no im not going to put the door panels anymore on the car and IM NEVER GOING TO DO ANY DASH SWAP ON THE CRX!!! i found a running crx 5speed for 1000 and its clean as hell!!!! so im parting out my civic so i can come up with the money some items will be sold on ebay and most will be sold on CLa friend offered me 3k for the whole civic but i gotta get it painted and hes fine with doing some work on it but i would have to wait a few weeks for the money so ima just part it out... and i love eg's but i hate just mines it was a curse from day 1. ive done too much to the car and the body itself is just what is slow stepping.. and yes dirty19 it was mostly my fault for trying to do this and that to the car which i didnt realize it until once i started to do the actual job but mostly its my only my fault its also the person's fault who sold me the parts telling me yeah it fits you just need to make the holes for the panels too fit

that is some motivation words i am hearing at least you are giving me a second look towards my 2 year project thanks man today i got done sanding down what needed to get sanded and i just got done painting the car and im just doing to try and finish the electrical work tomorrow and finish putting the interior together and just sell the car instead of keeping it since i found a great deal on a civic h22a swap for 2800.... thanks guys for some of the motivation and for the haters GLUE A PINEAPPLE DEEP INTO YOUR EXHAUST AND MAKE SURE IT STAYS THERE!!!!!

 

and just to let you guys know this is why i hate my car. when i did the swap i needed this and that so once i did the swap i had to change the wiring harness for the entire car. once i did that i had a big mission to make the turn signals work WHICH STILL DOESNT WORK. the tail lights are another mission to make it properly work. installing the gsr dash was easier than installing the gsr panels. fitting ek9 seats was also a mission FINDING PARTS AT THE JUNKYARD TOOK ME A FEW TRIPS AND SEVERAL JUNKYARDS TO FIND A FEW PARTS and the BODY OF THE CAR!!!! THATS ANOTHER MISSION BUT I GOT IT DONE NOW AND THE BODY IS NOW A 9 OUT OF 10!!!! THE WINDSHIELD WAS SMASHED UP AND TOOK ME A FEW HOURS TO REPLACE. this car was completely restored and it wasnt fun or easy under the heat of the florida sun.... so read the post correctly I HATE MY EG. IT DOESNT SAY I HATE EG'S. IT SAYS I HATE MY EG!!!!

 

Restoration project??
You were trying to make a GSR out of the EG.
Something very few people have ever tried and for good reason.
If you dont have the means to make something as complex as you were trying work then dont attempt it and you wont hate your EG as much.
We arent hating on you .. just amazed that you'd attempt something like this and then complain about it when you cant get it to work.
Theres a reason why you dont see this as a more common place thing thats done.

 

lol i changed everything to new on that car. the only thing that i put gsr was the dashboard and door panels which ive seen people have that dash in their eg's. the door panels isnt what made me hate my eg. it was all the problems ive had restoring the car and all the money wasted

 

Making ITR stuff fit on an EG is a waste of time IMO. You could get a second job in place of all the late-night work on the EG, and save enough to get a real ITR.

People get ITR's for oem reliability and/or status. People get EG's because they're ready-set for light-weight obd1 racing. Mixing the two negates the benifits both carry.



All my opinions not withstanding, you've got countless hours into an EG. Think about it. Anything you think of doing to one has been done at least 5 other times, faster & better. I'm sure someone's even strapped a JATO rocket to a civic already.
