I have a 91 Sedan with a sohc zc. Just recently did my mpfi swap. Car ran perfectly fine for a few days and then it just craps out on me while i was slowing down for a stop light. There is no spark going to the spark plugs and the fuel pump doesnt kick in and i dont hear a buzz when i turn the key. I also found out that there is no power going to my ecu. The car cranks but it doesnt start. I'm thinking that it's the main relay but im not entirely sure. Does anyone have any idea on what it could be?

 

check your alternator, check your battery.

 

Just replaced my alternator 2 weeks ago and tried jump starting it and still doesnt start.

 

check you main relay. turn your car on accessory and listen for a click sound on your bottom left side of your dash. if you don't hear and click sound then drop down your main relay. and turn it on and off accessory see if it click.

 

dead battery. Check it. AND just it case check your alternator. It can go wrong very quickly. (I should know I had an rx7 once)

 

also does your check engine light flash on and then turn off and then turn back on again.

check your grounds on the thermo housing above the starter. they are bolted on by a 10mm. if loose you will lose power to the ecu. there for causes the lack of spark, no fuel pump, no power to the main relay. If it was in fact the alternator or battery the ecu will make a long buzzing sound........

 

nice one ^^^^ totally forgot about that one two. also check the one in your trunk. if either one is loose. than your screwed buddy.

 

Just checked the ground that goes to the thermo housing and its still there. And im not sure where the one in the trunk is. Im thinking about taking out the main relay tonight and checking it out.

 

Did you check the fuse under the hood that goes to the ecu......

 

Yeap i checked all the fuses and they aren't blown.

 

So i just replaced my main relay and it still doesnt start. I'm stumped. Does anyone know what else it could be?

 

Take a look at the fuel pump. Hope that helps.

 

I looked at the fuel pump and all the wires and connectors are still good.

 

Last 2 things I would say is to look at your battiers to see if it's good or not and if so then look around the intake maniford to see if everythings good there if so.... IDK LoL. But good luck.

 

The battery is good and was just replaced last august. I also looked around the intake manifold and all the wiring and everything looks solid. I'm pretty much stuck and dont know what else it could be.

 

no power to ECu.... if the fuses are good including the ECU fuse i would think one of your grounds is loose/bad... no ground no completed circuit for power to be delivered to your ecu ... check for loose connections (plugs) and grounds. also , try a different ecu.. i cant really remember but theres a ground circuit in the ecu that could of gone bad.

 

Yeah i swapped the ECU to double check and still not starting.

 

I'll double check the grounds and wires again

 

what about the ground on the trans?

 

did you check the pgmfi relay? try banging on the dash on the bottom side to the left of the steering wheel a few times and try and crank it

 

did you check the bat. fuse if blown no power to ecu

 

Just curious, what exactly did you do to find this out? I only ask because most of your checking seems to be just inspecting connections-not using a multimeter/test light/etc..

hey.. i got a 1990 honda ef..
i drove it fine for a month..
then i try to turn it on then
out of no where the car didnt start..
i thought it was the fuel pump..
checked it and got the fuel pump
straight to the battery source with
a on off switch to get the pump going..
now it got the fuel pump working..
but i was getting low energy to the
fuel pump wires.. very little and
dont know why.. and i dont use the wires
no more so i have the battery source still..
if any one knows
plz let me know...
